LCCI Presentation

LCCI International Diploma Qualifications are well respected and recognised by employers and professional bodies around the world. They have a rich history of opening progression routes for students.

In response to feedback from our customers, for greater flexibility for their students, we have streamlined our current Diploma structure and developed a new range of level 3 Diploma Qualifications called Specialised Diplomas.

We now offer three categories of Diploma Qualifications to meet the different needs of all of our customers:

Diplomas

These qualifications are suitable for students who have a general interest in business-related activities and want to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills across a broad range of related subjects.

The Diploma structure consists of a number of mandatory and optional vocationally-related and general subjects, such as English for Business and ICT skills. This structure provides students with a solid foundation for progressing to Group Diplomas at the same level, or a higher level.

To see the full range of Diplomas and their structures, please see the International Qualifications Guide 2010/2011.

Group Diplomas

These qualifications are suitable for students who have an interest in a particular business function (e.g. Accounting or Marketing) and want to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills across this broad functional area, without having to specialise.

The Diploma structure consists of mandatory and optional vocationally-related subjects, which apply to distinct functional business areas. This Diploma will allow students, who are undecided on their specialised subject area, to develop a broad range of knowledge and skills within a main function of business. For example, for a Group Diploma within the broad area of the accounting function, a student could combine Cost Accounting, Management Accounting and Financial Accounting; or similarly they could combine Marketing, Public Relations and Advertising, for a Group Diploma in the Marketing function.

To see the full range of Group Diplomas and their structures, please see the International Qualifications Guide 2010/2011.

Specialised Diplomas

The new Specialised Diplomas are suitable for students who have a clear idea of their professional aspirations and how they want to specialise within a business function. This range of coherent and flexible qualifications provides students with a diverse but related body of knowledge and skills, which together contribute to a rounded and motivating learning experience that is relevant to their interests and how they intend to progress.

The range consists of:

The Specialised Diploma structure consists of mandatory and optional vocationally-related subjects. The mandatory subjects form the context for each Diploma and provide opportunities for students to develop and apply in-depth knowledge, understanding and skills within their chosen area of specialism.

The range of optional subjects provides complementary and relevant learning into the students’ chosen Diploma to enhance their breadth of study. The optional modules are ‘unit-sized’ qualifications with recommended guided learning hours between 40 – 60 hours. These units are available at different levels and are accredited by the UK regulatory authorities.

The unit-sized qualifications can add value to the students learning programme as not only do they provide greater choice and flexibility in learning and assessment, their reduced timeframe can aid student motivation, as well as encourage students to undertake additional subjects to suit their needs and requirements.

Progression routes

All of the modules within all of the Diploma Qualifications are also standalone qualifications and therefore can further improve the flexibility of how students use these qualifications.

Students’ progression, from LCCI Diploma Qualifications, range from further education routes to directly into employment. Some mandatory modules within the Diploma Qualifications currently allow progression to ACCA and CIMA professional qualifications along with entry in to higher education within the UK thorough the UCAS tariff point system.

Completing our new Specialised Diploma will widen these progression routes further through arrangements currently being developed with UK universities. In addition, the new unit-sized qualifications have been developed based upon recognised professional and occupational standards, and can provide students with the key skills and knowledge for employment, giving them a competitive edge within the job market.

Qualifications delivery support

A wide range of teaching and learning support materials are being developed for our qualifications. Our support materials include; teachers’ toolkits, which provide teaching and learning activities with supporting resources; online interactive learning tools; podcasts and other useful resources such as recommended reading.

Many of these are already available, free of charge, within the website, and we have an ambitious programme to extend the range.
